The hunter ring has always celebrated a particular kind of elegance. Understated, polished, and rooted in tradition, the best hunter style doesn't demand attention. It earns appreciation through its details.

Jimmy Sardelli wanted to bring that sensibility back to the show shirt. Rather than following the prevailing trend toward synthetic technical fabrics, Jimmy took inspiration from traditional cotton shirting, where the quality of the fabric, the precision of the tailoring, and the subtlety of the design speak for themselves.

The result was the Bunny Show Shirt, a tailored, long-sleeved cotton shirt featuring a distinctive stand-up wrap collar, concealed front placket, and classic button cuffs.

The collar was central to Jimmy's vision. In contrast to the trend toward shorter, softer collars with little structure, he chose a higher, structured collar for a more polished and elegant look. For Jimmy, its height and proportion create an elegance that a shorter, softer collar cannot replicate.

The collar also offers an opportunity for personal embroidery. Riders can arrange embroidery on their own, or discuss The In Gate's embroidery services with Jimmy and the team.

For the four newest Bunny Show Shirts, Jimmy selected distinctive 100% Pima cotton fabrics imported from England, each chosen for its beauty, character, and quality. Pima cotton is prized for its long, fine fibers and luxurious feel.

The fabrics are combed and mercerized, processes that contribute to their smooth appearance and refined finish. Selected fabrics also offer crease-resistant qualities, a welcome consideration for riders traveling between competitions.

These aren't simply different colors of the same shirt. Each fabric has its own personality, giving riders an opportunity to express their individual style while maintaining the traditional elegance expected in the hunter ring.

Mayfair Blue Stripe

Mayfair Blue Stripe combines pale blue and white with deeper blue pinstripes and subtle soft-yellow accents. Its 100% Pima cotton striped fabric is woven from Egyptian yarn and imported from England. The decision to manufacture in New York is intentional. It reflects a belief that where and how a garment is made matters, particularly when the goal is to create something distinctive rather than simply another mass-produced piece of riding apparel.

The Bunny story began with two gingham designs, one blue and one pink. For Jimmy, starting with color was important. He wanted to bring back the beautiful prints, stripes, and plaids that were so characteristic of traditional show shirts, and the original ginghams marked the beginning of that return.

Their introduction sparked enthusiasm among riders who appreciated the return to traditional cotton shirting and distinctive styling.

Among those early supporters was accomplished hunter rider Amanda Steege, whose feedback, along with that of other customers, helped inspire the next chapter of the Bunny collection.

Amanda recently celebrated the four new colorways in an Instagram story with a fitting expression: “Ask and ye shall receive.”
