Tull MD Celebrates Two Years of Purpose-Driven Skincare for the Equestrian Community
Tull MD, the first dermatologist-developed, medical-grade skincare and sunscreen brand created for equestrian athletes and the people who support them, is marking its second anniversary with a renewed commitment to helping the equestrian community protect, restore, and care for their skin.
Founded by Dr. Stacey Tull, a board-certified dermatologic surgeon and cosmetic dermatologist, and Stephen Nessel, a business executive and equestrian brand strategist, Tull MD was built to meet the unique needs of riders, trainers, grooms, families, and equestrian professionals who spend long hours outdoors in sun, dust, sweat, and changing weather conditions.
"Our mission has always been about more than skincare," said Dr. Stacey Tull, co-founder of Tull MD. "As a dermatologist, I have seen the lifelong impact of sun damage and skin cancer. Tull MD allows us to bring medical-grade skincare and daily sun protection directly to a community we care deeply about."
Over the past two years, Tull MD has grown from an idea into a purpose-driven brand with a focused product line that includes mineral sunscreens, antioxidant protection, acne care, barrier support, and restorative skincare — all designed for the realities of equestrian life: long show days, early mornings, outdoor training, travel, and daily sun exposure.
"As equestrians, we prepare carefully for our horses, our rounds, and our show days," said Stephen Nessel, co-founder of Tull MD. "We want sun protection and skin health to become part of that same routine. Tull MD exists to help riders look and feel their best while protecting their long-term health."
As part of its purpose-driven approach, Tull MD donates a portion of proceeds toward skin cancer prevention, education, and research, as well as equestrian health and safety organizations. The brand's mission is closely tied to raising awareness about the importance of daily sunscreen use in a sport where sun exposure is constant and often underestimated.
Retail partners have played an important role in bringing Tull MD to the equestrian community.
"Tull MD fills a real need for riders and families who spend so much time outside," said Jimmy Sardelli, founder of The In Gate. "It brings together luxury skincare, serious sun protection, and a mission that truly matters to our community."
"Tull MD brings an elevated, thoughtful approach to skincare and sun protection for equestrians," said Natasha Tarasov of The Horse Connection in Bedford Village, New York. "It is exactly the kind of purpose-driven brand our customers connect with because it supports both performance and long-term wellness."
The Tull MD Sun Safety Pledge
To mark its second anniversary, Tull MD is introducing the Tull MD Sun Safety Pledge — a community-focused initiative designed to help prevent skin cancer in the equestrian community by encouraging riders, trainers, grooms, families, and supporters to commit to daily sun protection.
- I pledge to protect my skin every day.
- I will wear sunscreen, reapply during long days outdoors, and make sun protection part of my riding, training, and show routine.
- I will encourage my friends, barn family, clients, teammates, and loved ones to do the same.
- Together, we can help prevent skin cancer in the equestrian community.
"Skin cancer prevention starts with small daily habits," said Dr. Tull. "If we can make sunscreen as routine as putting on a helmet or packing a show bag, we can make a meaningful difference."
As Tull MD enters its third year, the brand remains focused on expanding awareness, strengthening retail partnerships, and continuing to develop high-performance skincare and sunscreen for equestrians and those who support them.
"We are grateful for the riders, trainers, retailers, and families who have embraced Tull MD," said Nessel. "This anniversary is not just a milestone for the brand. It is a reminder of why we started — to protect the people who make this sport so special."
